Website Platform Comparison

As developers we have experience with almost every platform. Here is just a few that we like to use. After many years of experience and getting annoyed with some of the disadvantages across the platforms we decided to create one ourselves DYSC CMS. We have decided to add this to our comparison below (sorry if we become a little bias is the description of this one ;) will try not to)
Magento Logo

drupal

Drupal is an amazing platform as you can do almost anything with it. Due to its complex functionality it can take longer to create and has a steep learning curve. It has the best security features and data manipulation. It has a solid foundation which you can add lots of modules to which make it the most flexible but these can sometimes be difficult to use – taking a while to learn how to do everything.

Umbraco

Umbraco is a .Net platform therefore is useful if that is the type of system you are used to. It has a built in user management and a clean admin tool. However can be slow and it’s not easy to maintain. It has problems with bugging too. It is easy to use then some of the other platforms which makes is accessible for everyone not just developers.

joomla!

Joomla! Sits in the middle of the platforms, it has the user friendliness of WordPress but is capable of supporting large amounts of articles more like Drupal. There aren’t as many modules as other platforms however it has lots of built in management systems and can be multilingual.

DNN Logo

DNN (DotNetNuke)

DNN is great for allowing many different users to manage and edit the site, having one main administrator to approve certain edits. It has a very easy to use editing system which is also helpful with SEO. DNN doesn’t have as many plugin or extensions as some of the other platforms and the ones they do have can be a bit more expensive too depending on what is it you want. However it does have a lot of features ‘out of the box’ making it very easy to develop with.

WordPress

WordPress was designed as a blogging platform, since then it has been expanded by plugins and themes to create the easy to use and flexible platform available today. IT is the quickest of the platforms to create and is frequently updated although sometimes these updates can make some plugins no longer work. All WordPress sites can end up looking similar as it is a more basic platform and not as easy to customise.

DYSC CMS Logo

DYSC CMS

After listening to clients’ needs and frustrations we created our own Content Management System (CMS). Built with start-ups and growing businesses in mind, the DYSC CMS website building software, offers far greater flexibility and site customisation than any other do-it-yourself website builder you will find. (Opps said I wouldn’t brag) Some of the benefits include fully customisable, fully optimised, google compliant, simple to make extra SEO-friendly, responsive and mobile-friendly and bespoke service available for extras, at an affordable rate.

There are good and bad points for each platform, it all depends if you want to expand and what your audience requires you to be able to do. Below is a summery table to help you chose what is right for your business or get in touch to discuss with one of our professionals.
